OUR STORY

In March of 1969, four families recognized the need for a new Assemblies of God church in Springdale and began to pray for guidance. After much prayer and seeking direction, Faith Assembly of God was established.
Temporary organizational meetings were held in an office complex on Watson Street. The space was cramped, and there was a lack of Sunday School classrooms. God opened a door for the church to rent a sanctuary from the Seventh-day Adventists, as their services were held on Saturdays.
The church elected Paul K. Whitten as its pastor, and the first official service was held on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1969. Attendance grew each week, leading to an increasing need for a permanent location. A 10-acre plot of land was purchased, and the church began holding services in the old, large home that was situated on the property. With the assistance of a Home Missions Grant and a loan for a mobile church from the Arkansas Assemblies of God District, Faith Assembly was able to accommodate larger gatherings and provide classrooms for Sunday School.
In July 1970, Lindell and Darlene Ballenger became the pastors of Faith Assembly. The following years were characterized by growth and building programs. In July 1972, the church moved into its first permanent building. In 1975, the church broke ground and began planning the design for the current structure, although it would be a few more years before they moved into the new building.
In the early 1980s, Larry Moore was brought on to serve as pastor, during which time the church transitioned its services into the current facilities.
In the mid-1990s, Pastor Billy and Carolyn Burks were elected as pastors of Faith Assembly, serving for the next 15 years.
In early 2011, Tim and Melissa O’Brien were elected as pastors and served for the following 12 years.
In August 2023, the church elected James and Rebecca Reine as lead pastors.
“We stand on the shoulders of so many great men and women who have led this church, attended this church, given their time and resources, and fervently prayed for God to move here, ensuring that Faith Assembly makes a difference in Northwest Arkansas.” - James Reine.
