Things Worth Fighting For

It's interesting when we read the stories of the Old Testament the number of times God called and commissioned his own people to go to war or fight. Some have suggested that there are over 80 incidences in which either God commissioned them to battle or the circumstances they were in caused them to have to fight their enemies. As I read these accounts it reminds me there is a time to fight. By fighting, I'm not advocating anarchy or even speaking directly about physical confrontation or warfare. There is however a battle that is raging for our families, our communities, our churches and our country. There are some things worthy of "Fighting For'. Spiritual battle that takes place with the weapon of prayer and fasting and standing for what God decrees as 'Right'. Even though the direction and dynamics of our warfare has changed some from Old Testament times, we realize that those same 'Enemies' represent many 'Principalities' and 'Powers' we still must confront and we must DRIVE THEM OUT. In fact there were some serious consequences with Israel and Judah, when they did not DRIVE OUT their enemies. There are spiritual forces that try to assault us, we must not only be on guard but we must be willing to take all of God's provided armor and DRIVE those FORCES from our homes and our own spiritual lives.
